These striking buttons are made from an iron rich red clay and have deep red-brown terracotta colour, but because of the unique composition of the clay, it was possible to fire the pieces to 'stoneware' hardness, which makes them harder than traditional low fire terracotta pottery.

Each button was made by hand and is embossed with a "Sun and Moon" design. The surface of these buttons is the natural clay (there is no glaze) and these buttons have a smooth feel in the hand and a matte appearance.
These buttons are not affected by water or detergent.
